The free events at the Orange County Great Park this fall don't stay in one place. In October they're on the lawn at Great Park Live. In November the calendar thins out, and the rink and the Palm Court Arts Complex carry it. On December 5 the activity moves to Palm Court, and it stays there into January. For Altair, the park next door works best when you know which corner is busy that week.
October Belongs to Great Park Live
The 25th Irvine Global Village Festival ran on October 10, so it's over by now. The next three weekends keep the Great Park Live venue busy with large cultural festivals and one family night.
Mega Night Market, October 17 and 18. Great Park Live describes it as a Lao, Khmer, Hmong, Iu Mien, Thai, Vietnamese and Asian food, music and cultural festival. It runs 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. both days. Tickets and parking are both sold through the venue. Visitors who wear cultural attire get in free, but only on Sunday. The program lists Asian street food, DJs, singers and traditional dance, and only service dogs are allowed that weekend.
Ektaa Diwali Fest, October 24. It runs 1 to 9 p.m., and general admission is free on its ticket page. The listing includes Indian music, cultural performances, food, shopping and henna. A traditional lamp-lighting ceremony starts at 7 p.m., followed by a drone show. Free admission doesn't cover food or shopping. The two official listings give different addresses. Great Park Live says 300 Corsair, and the City of Irvine calendar says 8000 Great Park Blvd. Check the address before you drive over.
Halloween Movie Night, October 30. This is the easiest night of the month for a family. Admission and parking are both free. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., "Minions & Monsters" starts at 6, and "Hocus Pocus" follows at 8. Blankets and low-back chairs are welcome, and so are dogs on leash. Food, drinks, Adirondack chairs and Kids Zone passes are sold on site.
Three October weekends, three different price setups. One festival is ticketed with a free Sunday, one is free with paid food, and one is free at the gate with free parking.
November Shifts to the Rink and Palm Court
After Halloween, Great Park Live has nothing on its calendar that fits this guide. The things worth knowing about in November are at Great Park Ice and the Palm Court Arts Complex.
- November 1, Halloween Skate. This themed public session at Great Park Ice is the first event on the rink's fall calendar.
- November 7, Holiday Faire. The City's 44th annual Holiday Faire runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Great Park Palm Court Arts Complex. The City calls it a marketplace of handmade gifts, unique finds and local vendors. Vendor applications are closed. The City says the lineup and more details are still to come, and its page doesn't list an admission price.
- November 22, Give Back Skate. This is another themed public session at the rink.
- November 27 to 29, Thanksgiving Invitational. Great Park Ice is hosting high school, junior varsity and youth hockey divisions over the holiday weekend. Its page doesn't list spectator hours or ticket details. Expect a busier rink that weekend, not open ice.
- November 29, last day of the gallery show. The Great Park Gallery's free exhibition, Grrrl Germs: Punk feminism goes viral, 1991–2026, closes that day. Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The rink and the gallery work differently. Public skating at Great Park Ice costs $21, plus $8 for skate rental or $18 for a skate aid, and the themed-skate page doesn't post session times. The gallery is free. It also goes quiet after the show closes, because the City's next three exhibitions open together on January 31, 2027. Those are Onehillion: A Whisper in the Dark, Luke Matjas: I Have This Dream Where I'm Talking With a Hawk, and Gina Lawson Egan: Full Moon. If the punk-feminism show is on your list, the Thanksgiving weekend is your last chance to see it before February.
December Settles at Palm Court
The season ends where the Holiday Faire was held. Illuminate Irvine is on Saturday, December 5, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Palm Court. The City lists seasonal activities, shopping, performances, and the lighting of the holiday tree and the Palm Court Arts Complex.
After that night, the lights stay up. The Palm Court display runs every day from dusk to 9 p.m., with walk-through lights and a Santa's sleigh photo spot. The City's events calendar lists Holidayz at the Park and its pop-up exhibit from December 5 through January 3. October's festivals each take up one weekend. The lights give you a month of evenings when you can walk over after dinner.
The rink has two December dates. Great Park Ice is staging "A Nightmare Holiday on Ice" on Sunday, December 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. in FivePoint Arena. The $390 figure on its page is the package price for group skaters taking part, not a ticket for the audience. The Holiday Skate public session follows on December 20.

The Fixtures, Checked Against Their Current Pages
The yearly events change. Some fixtures have changed too, and those changes are easy to miss.
The Balloon flies Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday it flies 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. It's closed Monday through Wednesday. Adults pay $10, children ride free, and parking is free in Lot 3. The $10 price has been in effect since November 1, 2024. Flights depend on the weather, and the City asks visitors to call 949-724-6247 to confirm. On a breezy December evening, call before you leave.
The Sunday farmers market is no longer at the Great Park. It moved on November 10, 2024. It now runs at Stonegate Elementary, 100 Honors, on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Older guides still put it at the park.
The Bosque playground is part of the Bosque Enhancement work between Cadence and Benchmark. The City's August 2026 status report expected it to finish in winter 2026/27. It could open during the holiday-lights season, but the City hasn't promised that. The 22-acre Great Park Lakes and the permanent amphitheater are further off. The same report puts the lake's construction start in spring 2028 and the amphitheater's construction in 2028 to 2030.
What's Open at The Canopy So Far
The Canopy at Great Park has one restaurant open. In-N-Out opened on September 4 as the center's first tenant, as the Orange County Business Journal reported. Its address is 7900 Great Park Blvd, according to the OC Register.
Ten days later, the Business Journal named five more tenants. They are McConnell's Fine Ice Creams, Palmetto Superfoods, Baba's Hot Chicken, the La Jolla Cosmetic medical spa, and Brooks Running, which is making its California debut there. Developer Almquist expects the remaining businesses to open in phases from late 2026 through early 2027. Earlier announcements include Philz Coffee, Shootz, Chicha San Chen, The Taco Stand, H&H Bagels' first Orange County location, and Osen Urban Table, a spinoff of Irvine's Izakaya Osen. The anchor is T&T Supermarket, in a 34,000-square-foot space. The OC Register said T&T planned to open "in the spring" but didn't say which spring.
So for the October festivals and the first weeks of the Palm Court lights, In-N-Out is the only Canopy option with a confirmed opening. The other tenants should start arriving as the season ends, without fixed dates.
If you're wondering how the Great Park's busy calendar and the Canopy's phased openings affect what buyers notice about an Altair home, Ayumi Real Estate can walk you through it. Request a complimentary home valuation and consultation, and we'll talk about how your home presents against the season around it.
