I Followed a Crowd at Bristol Farms and Found My New Favorite Tortilla Chips

Sometimes the crowd knows best.

  • September 16, 2026

You don't usually see a crowd at a grocery store. But maybe if you do see one forming around a bag of chips, you should really check out why.

That is exactly what happened to me at Bristol Farms a few weeks ago. I was walking past the chip aisle, not even planning to stop, when I noticed people were reaching for the same bag over and over. It was a brand called Chicas, made with fresh, authentic corn tortillas. I am not usually one to grab something just because everyone else is grabbing it. Heck, I'm not even a chip person! But the crowd had my curiosity.

I picked up the Lime bag, and oh my.

These chips are genuinely addicting. They are thick and crispy in a way that holds up to any dip you throw at them, and the lime flavor is bright and super tangy. I did a little digging too about the chip brand. Chicas is a family-run company with Ecuadorian roots, and made in America. Chicas starts with fully cooked traditional tortillas, then cuts, fries, and seasons them, rather than starting from raw sheeted masa the way most brands do. The chips are non-GMO, gluten free, and vegan, which gives me peace of mind!

Sometimes following the crowd really is the right call.

I liked them so much I bought a bag for my assistant. Then I bought another bag. At this point, the office just always has these Chicas Lime chips on hand. They are seasoned so well that I genuinely think they would taste great with nothing more than a plain avocado, no salt, no lime, nothing extra needed.

If you see people crowding a chip aisle at Bristol Farms, do yourself a favor and go see what all the fuss is about. You might end up buying two bags too.
